Former BIGBANG member T.O.P has found himself at the center of a controversy over his acting in Netflix’s Squid Game 2.
T.O.P takes on the role of “Thanos,” a rapper who loses everything to drug addiction and reckless spending, but his performance failed to impress many viewers.
Below are some reactions from viewers who watched his performance:
“Honestly, I can’t understand the taste of this 50-something man at all. T.O.P feels like the kind of actor you might almost find impressive (but nope, not even 0.00000000001%—not even a speck).”
나 50대 아저씨 감성을 이해할 수가 없어

Thanos is the most annoying character in this drama! His death felt justified because he was so infuriating. Plus, his constant use of English is super annoying! #SquidGame2 #SquidGame #SquidGameSeason2 pic.twitter.com/PxTr3Ud1w0

“T.O.P is appearing in Squid Game 2, playing a character involved with clubs and drugs. Is this really okay? BIGBANG’s downfall was caused by Seungri’s scandal involving clubs and drugs. It seems problematic both for the director to cast T.O.P in such a role and for T.O.P to accept it. Watching it is just uncomfortable.”

“Has he ever been praised for his acting?”
“He’s always been bad at acting.”
“I remember he wasn’t good at acting in the first place. Why did they insist on casting him?”
“Whether he’s good or bad at acting, he probably got paid a ton. Easy money for him.”
“He’s never been good at acting, so the director who insisted on casting him is the problem.”
“Why was he included in the first place?”
“The director said in an interview that there’s a reason T.O.P had to play the role… Is it because the character is a drug addict?”
“Maybe it’s because he’s friends with Lee Jung Jae?”
“Has he ever been good at acting?”
“Why cast someone who can’t act?”
“This is 1000% the director’s fault. From the moment the casting news came out, everyone was like, “Why him??” But the director kept insisting there was a reason.”
“There’s no point debating whether he’s good or bad at acting. The character itself is infuriating, the acting was bad, and even the actor’s real-life image is problematic. Overall, it just left a bad impression.”
