Former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin has denied allegations that she orchestrated the termination of NewJeans’ exclusive contract with ADOR, taking legal action in response.
On the 2nd, Dispatch reported that Min Hee Jin allegedly used NewJeans to break away from the label. The report claimed Min had instructed the group’s live broadcast requesting her return and Hanni’s appearance at a National Assembly hearing. Dispatch further alleged that Min Hee Jin met with representatives of another company during her tenure as an ADOR executive and engaged in “tampering” by approaching external investors with plans to take NewJeans with her.
Min Hee Jin’s side responded swiftly, filing a defamation complaint against two Dispatch reporters with the Yongsan Police Department. They stated, “These two have persistently defamed Min Hee Jin by publishing falsehoods under the guise of news. Today’s article is no different, as it presents one-sided claims mixed with their own speculations, entirely detached from the truth.”
Her team also filed a separate complaint against former HYBE CEO Park Ji Won and a HYBE public relations officer, accusing them of Intrusive Acts on Information and Communications Network. They alleged, “Since April, these individuals unlawfully obtained private conversations and manipulated them with falsehoods to generate negative public sentiment against Min Hee Jin.”
Meanwhile, NewJeans addressed the issue directly during a live broadcast and press conference, emphasizing that their appearances and decisions were made independently. Hanni also clarified that her participation in the National Assembly hearing was solely for the NewJeans fandom, Bunnies.
On November 28th, NewJeans held a press conference announcing the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR, citing violations. They expressed their desire to continue working with Min Hee Jin, who had previously stepped down from her position at ADOR and left HYBE.
