He’s back and he’s “got the power.” G-Dragon has made his long awaited return with his new track “POWER” and it is setting the internet ablaze.
G-Dragon, the lead rapper of YG Entertainment’s hit group BIGBANG, already accumulated 8 million views in just 14 hours and is #2 on YouTube’s “Trending For Music” charts and #6 iTunes “Worldwide” chart.
As expected, the song is predictably showcasing G-Dragon’s signature fashion sense and quirky rapping methods while still being refreshing and new. The ear-candy beat has a strong and catchy instrumental that feels like a revamp of Y2K’s enthusiastic rap energy. The blow-out-the-bass in your speaker’s beat combined with the blaring horns and disc scratching make the repetitious beat infectious and upbeat. The tempo matches the mood perfectly as the song is an absolute feel-good banger that makes you want to get out of your seat and dance the same way GD does throughout the MV. See for yourself in the fun and rhythmic MV below.
Fans are already praising the return of G-Dragon and flooding the comments with nothing but support and compliments. Fans commented on G-Dragon’s artistry stating “The first idol that can write and produce a very hit song,” and “I was quite shocked by the first line cause “Übermensch” is a German term that quite literally means a person who’s ‘above’ or beyond.” Fans are not surprised by G-Dragon’s ability to dominate the charts and claim that he will dominate Korea’s music charts and music programs, leaving no other groups a chance to win.
