Incheon International Airport is facing mixed reactions after announcing plans to allow celebrities and public figures to use a separate entrance. The move is part of an effort to prevent overcrowding and chaotic scenes at the airport during their arrivals and departures.

In a recent notice titled “Cooperation Request for Using Designated Entry for Artist Departures,” the airport authority outlined procedures for celebrities to use a different entrance from the general public. The move, aimed at reducing congestion, has sparked a heated debate online, with some criticizing it as preferential treatment while others see it as a necessary safety measure.

A spokesperson for Incheon International Airport clarified to YTN, saying, “Reports suggesting a new, exclusive entrance for celebrities are not accurate. The door in question is an existing one for airline crew members, which will now also be available to celebrities, but only with prior approval.” The official added, “It’s intended to prevent dangerous overcrowding at the airport when stars depart.”

The departure or arrival of popular actors and singers has often caused significant disruption, with hordes of fans and media crowding the airport, sometimes resulting in dangerous situations. Recently, actor Byeon Woo Seok made headlines when his security team was accused of excessive measures, such as blocking access and shining flashlights at regular passengers during his departure to Hong Kong.

However, the airport’s decision has sparked debate online. Some argue that it’s unfair preferential treatment since they’re not performing official duties but acting for personal gain, while others believe it will help prevent potential accidents caused by large crowds.
