Divorce attorney Yang Na Rae recently shared her thoughts on the hit SBS drama Good Partner, which is currently airing to strong ratings.
On her YouTube channel, Yang posted a video titled “A Divorce Attorney’s Take on Good Partner.” The drama, airing on Fridays and Saturdays, centers around star divorce lawyer Cha Eun Kyung, for whom divorce cases are a calling, and rookie lawyer Han Yu Ri, who is navigating her first divorce case in this gripping legal drama.
Yang Na Rae commented on a line from the show, “Affairs are common even among relatives. These cheaters are always around us,” saying, “It’s true—infidelity is often closer than you think. It’s quite common among relatives. Some even have affairs with their neighbors, and spouses have no clue about it. The show isn’t wrong about this. But, don’t let this make you overly suspicious of everyone around you.”
Yang also reviewed scenes involving child custody and visitation rights. In one particular exchange, a character, who is a divorce lawyer, says, “After losing custody, the mother often ends up seeing her child regularly during visitation, and eventually, the child goes to live with her,” adding, “So what if the child moves in with the mother? As you know, child transfer orders cannot be enforced.”
She explained, “In reality, there are parents who, like in the drama, become obsessed with winning custody and refuse to let go, but then later decide they can’t handle it and send the child back to the other parent. On the other hand, some truly love and care for their kids. The drama captures a scenario that does happen, but it’s not always this clear-cut.”
Yang further elaborated: “It’s true that child transfer orders can’t be enforced. Even when we file for a temporary injunction for child transfer during a lawsuit, it often doesn’t get enforced, so it’s not easily granted. Some people take advantage of this and forcefully bring a well-cared-for child back to their home, but just because it doesn’t work out doesn’t mean it’s impossible. If you push too hard, you might be seen as unfit to be a custodian. The drama is accurate in its portrayal, but it doesn’t apply to every situation.”
