In an interview with Singles Korea, Kim Hye Yoon shared her thoughts on the most memorable scene from her drama Lovely Runner. The actress, who was in London for a photoshoot, began the interview with her signature bright smile. When asked about the secret behind her endearing charm, she said, “I think smiling a lot helps put people at ease.”
Discussing her childhood and current self, Kim Hye Yoon reminisced, “As a child, I wanted to be all kinds of things watching movies and dramas.” She added, “My mom suggested I pursue a career seen on TV, so I dreamed of becoming an actress, and that dream hasn’t changed since.” When asked about her real-life personality, she described herself as “passionate like Lim Sol,” her character from the show, and mentioned that she was a cheerful student.
Addressing her title as “The Nation’s First Love” after her role as Lim Sol in Lovely Runner, Kim Hye Yoon expressed her surprise, saying, “Am I really the nation’s first love?” She continued, “It’s flattering to be called that. I feel there are many sides of me that I haven’t shown yet.”
From romantic comedies to historical dramas, Kim Hye Yoon has demonstrated her versatility as an actress across various genres. Discussing her approach to acting, she explained, “I focus on creating unique traits for each character, like the way they talk. Then the inner life of the character naturally unfolds.”
When asked about the most heart-fluttering scenes, Kim Hye Yoon found it hard to choose just one, but she fondly recalled scenes like the cherry blossom wish and amusement park date. Reflecting on her favorite moment from Lovely Runner, she mentioned the proposal scene, where Seon Jae, played by Byeon Woo Seok, proposes to her. “Experiencing a proposal indirectly made me understand why people get teary-eyed during proposals,” she said. “It was a mix of complex emotions.”
Imagining how the characters Sol and Seon Jae might be living now, she speculated, “I think Sol and Seon Jae would have no obstacles in their future and would be living very happily.” On what she learned from playing Lim Sol, she noted, “She’s such a positive character. The term’ strong on the inside, soft on the outside’ comes to mind. I feel like I’ve become stronger, too.”
When asked what Seon Jae means to her, she said, “He’s someone I can entrust Sol to,” drawing attention with her response.
At the end of the interview, Kim Hye Yoon shared one of her happiest moments: “I had never traveled abroad with my family before, so after ‘Lovely Runner,’ we went on our first overseas trip together. The trip was unforgettable; I’d like to travel with them once or twice a year.”
