Prosecution Seeks Four-Year Prison Sentence for Yoo Ah In on Drug Charges

The prosecution has requested the court to sentence Yoo Ah In to four years in prison for habitual use of illegal drugs such as propofol and marijuana. The star appeared in court again on July 24th for the ongoing drug case. His acquaintance, identified as Choi, is also on trial for violating the Narcotics Control Act.

On this day, the prosecution requested the court to sentence Yoo Ah In to four years in prison and a fine of 2 million won, and Choi to four years in prison. He faces charges including violating the Narcotics Control Act, solicitation to tamper with evidence, violating the Medical Service Act, and fraud.

Around 2 PM, the actor appeared in court dressed in a black suit. He had a short haircut and maintained a calm expression, remaining silent in response to questions from the press.

During the trial, the prosecution stated to the court, “The defendant used his financial and professional advantages to deceive doctors and obtain illegal prescription drugs worth approximately 500 million won (about $361,000 USD) habitually. He also used his closed network of acquaintances to smoke marijuana overseas. Given his status as a well-known actor who has made influential statements, he has a great social responsibility. According to the evidence, Yoo Ah Inand his acquaintance Choi used their social influence to cover up their crimes. The severity of their crimes is extremely high.”

Furthermore, the prosecution added, “The defendant attempted to silence those involved, helped acquaintances escape abroad, and blatantly defied the Korean judicial system.” They requested the court to sentence him to four years in prison and a fine of 2 million won, and Choi to four years in prison.
