The upcoming film Revolver, set to hit theaters on August 7th, has just released character stills showcasing Ji Chang Wook‘s shocking transformation into the character Andy, known as the “cologne-wearing mad dog.”
Ji Chang Wook, a global star renowned for his performances in dramas such as Lovestruck in the City, The Worst of Evil, and Welcome to Samdal-ri, is set to dominate the summer box office with his bold new role in Revolver. The film tells the story of Soo Young, a former police officer who takes the fall for numerous crimes and, upon her release from prison, sets out with a singular purpose.
Andy, Ji Chang Wook’s character, is described as a “cologne-wearing mad dog” who has lived his life recklessly, making promises and breaking them without a second thought. When Soo Young confronts him about a promise made years ago, his dismissive attitude pushes her to take action. The newly released character stills capture Andy’s lavish exterior—complete with designer glasses and expensive attire—while hinting at the hysterical complexity beneath. This role marks a fresh, captivating departure for Ji Chang Wook.
“The character of Andy intrigued me, and I felt I could bring something unique to the role. I was also excited to work with Director Oh Seung Wook, who I knew would add another layer to the character,” Ji Chang Wook shared about his involvement in the project. He focused on “understanding Andy’s past and present,” meticulously crafting the character by experimenting with various costumes to bring Andy to life.
Director Oh Seung Wook praised Ji Chang Wook’s performance, saying, “He portrayed the complex character of Andy like a sick emperor.” Co-star Jeon Do Yeon also lauded Ji Chang Wook, stating, “Ji Chang Wook helped me perform more boldly.”
Revolver is set to release in theaters on August 7th, promising an intense and thrilling experience.
