Actress Hwang Jung Eum has reportedly filed a civil lawsuit against her ex-husband, former golfer Lee Young Don, to recover a substantial loan.
On the 25th, entertainment journalist-turned-YouTuber Jin Ho Lee revealed in his latest video that “Hwang Jung Eum, through a personal corporation, lent over 900 million KRW (approximately $650,000 USD) to her husband. During the divorce process, it became unclear how she would get this money back. As a result, she has filed a civil lawsuit demanding the return of the money.”
Lee stated that “the conflict between the couple has escalated from personal issues to financial disputes.”
Additionally, the YouTuber commented that Hwang Jung Eum was sued for identifying an unrelated woman as Lee Young Don’s mistress. The compensation amount was not insignificant, and Hwang Jung Eum currently lacks available cash.
Hwang Jung Eum announced her divorce from Lee Young Don in February, citing his infidelity. Subsequently, she publicly accused Woman A of being Lee Young Don’s mistress. However, it was revealed that A had no connection to Lee Young Don.
The settlement between A and the actress recently fell through, leading A to file a lawsuit against Hwang. A explained on Instagram, “The essence of the issue is being overshadowed by speculative settlement amounts. The settlement failed because the clause acknowledging defamation was deleted, and an additional clause was added stating that if I violated the agreement, I would have to pay double the settlement amount to Hwang Jung Eum.”
