On the latest episode of MBC’s talk show Radio Star, Lee Da Hae shared stories from her early relationship days with singer SE7EN, including a secret getaway that inadvertently implicated other celebrities. The couple, who tied the knot last May after an eight-year relationship, went to great lengths to keep their romance under wraps in the beginning.
Lee Da Hae recounted, “I was afraid of our relationship going public in the early days. We wanted to date freely without being recognized, so we decided to go somewhere remote.” She added, “We chose Phu Quoc in Vietnam, which wasn’t as well-known back then. There really weren’t many Koreans around. Even when we were recognized by foreigners, I denied it.”
However, their efforts to remain incognito didn’t prevent speculation. “At the time, a show called ‘Brave Reporters’ aired a segment suggesting that ‘Actress A and Singer B jetted off on a secret getaway.’ It was obviously about us. I was nervous the next day, expecting to see news articles about it,” Lee explained.
Instead of the truth coming to light, the media misidentified the couple as different celebrities. “Netizens started speculating it was Park XX and Jung XX, and articles even followed with those names. But it was really about us,” Lee admitted. “I was feeling really bad. And SE7EN joked that we couldn’t be the heroes of justice. I want to take this opportunity to apologize to them.”
