On March 24th, Kim Sae Ron momentarily stirred the pot of curiosity among netizens by posting—and then quickly deleting—a cozy selfie with Kim Soo Hyun on her Instagram story.
The photo, showing the two actors face to face, didn’t stay up for long but was enough to ignite a flurry of speculation online. Through community forums, the snapshot gained rapid traction, prompting discussions about the nature of their relationship, with comments ranging from “Are they a couple?” to “It looks like it was taken after a few drinks.”
This incident also brought to light an interview Kim Sae Ron gave in February 2017, where she expressed a long-standing interest in working with Kim Soo Hyun. When asked about her desire to venture into romantic comedies and if she had any preferred co-star in mind, she replied, “I haven’t really thought about it specifically for a rom-com, but ever since I was younger, I always mentioned wanting to meet Kim Soo Hyun as an actor. I think it would be fun to be in a project together. He’s 12 years older than me, but he has always lived so ‘young.'”
Both actors were previously under the same roof, represented by the entertainment agency Gold Medalist, founded by Kim Soo Hyun. However, following a DUI incident in May 2022, Kim Sae Ron’s contract with the agency was not renewed, concluding in November 2022.
