South Korea’s housing market is known for its high prices, and for the fourth year in a row, the most expensive apartment complex went to The Penthouse Cheongdam in Seoul’s wealthy Cheongdam neighborhood. This luxurious building offers breathtaking views of the Han River from every unit and is home to celebrity couple Jang Dong Gun and Ko So Young.
A recent government announcement revealed that a spacious 407.71㎡ unit in The Penthouse Cheongdam is priced at a whopping 16.4 billion won ($12.2 million). The price jumped 160 million won ($119,468 USD) compared to last year. Built on the former site of a hotel, The Penthouse Cheongdam boasts only 29 units. Residents first moved in back in 2020, and the building swiftly secured its place as the nation’s most expensive apartment complex the following year.
The second place went to the Eterno Cheongdam apartment in Seoul’s Cheongdam neighborhood, also known as the “IU Apartment” due to the ownership of the K-pop star. A 464.11㎡ unit in the complex is priced at a staggering 12.86 billion won ($9.6 million).
The remaining top spots are located in Hannam-dong, another affluent area. The prestigious Nine One Hannam complex, home to celebrities like G-Dragon and Jang Yoon Jung, comes in third with a 244.72㎡ unit priced at 10.67 billion won ($8 million). Finally, Hannam The Hill rounds out the top four with a 244.75㎡ unit priced at 9.892 billion won ($7.4 million).
