The upcoming Netflix original film My Name is Loh Kiwan captures the entwining destinies of a North Korean defector clutching at life’s last hope and a woman who has lost her reason to live. Its main poster and trailer have just been released, instantly capturing the public’s attention.
The unveiled poster presents Loh Kiwan (Song Joong Ki) and Marie (Choi Sung Eun) in a disjointed stance, each looking in a different direction, highlighting their individual isolation. The accompanying main trailer unravels the story of Kiwan, an alien left alone in the world, struggling to survive his arduous journey, and Marie, another outcast he encounters along the way.

Kiwan has fled to Belgium, driven by the single-minded intent to survive any hell, to attain refugee status as his last hope. But he’s confronted with a harsh reality where he can’t prove his name or nationality. Then, Marie, who has lost her zest for life, appears before a drained and desperate Kiwan. Their paths cross when Marie steals Kiwan’s wallet, only to face him later at a police station. Upon learning that the money in Kiwan’s wallet came from his mother’s death, Marie feels a connection to him. Despite their differences, they begin to gravitate towards each other.
Meanwhile, Marie’s father Yoon Sung (Cho Han Cheul) is wary of their growing closeness. As Kiwan and Marie become increasingly precarious due to their respective circumstances, the sound of gunshots that rings out raises questions about their fate.
The trailer echoes with Kiwan’s poignant question, “Does someone like me even deserve happiness?” and a glimpse of Marie offers a comforting presence, hinting at the unfolding story of understanding and connection between them.
