Disney Plus series A Shop for Killers wrapped up with a finale that skyrockets anticipation for a second season. But what really stole the spotlight were the performances of the new faces, each bringing a dazzling presence to their every scene.

A Shop for Killers navigates the treacherous waters of survival for Ji An, a niece targeted by dubious assassins due to a dangerous legacy left by her uncle Jin Man. The series concluded on the 7th, with all eight episodes now available, earning praise for its suspenseful narrative and explosive action sequences. While seasoned performers like Lee Dong Wook (Jeong Jin Man), Kim Hye Jun (Jeong Ji An), Seo Hyun Woo (Lee Seong Jo), Cho Han Sun (Veil), and Park Ji Bin (Bae Jung Min) delivered outstanding performances, it was the relatively unknown actors who left a lasting impression.

Geum Hannah, in the role of Min Hye, and Kim Min as the mercenary Pasin, displayed such exceptional acting chops that some wondered if they were actually foreign talents. Min Hye, a member of the elite killer group Red Code from MurderHelp seeking to protect Ji An, became a talking point for the actress’ spot-on capture of a Chinese-speaking Korean’s accent, her striking visuals, and the thrilling action sequences in a warehouse. Hannah, who made her acting debut in the 2011 film Dr. Jump and appeared in several independent films and the JTBC drama Run On, has certainly made her mark.

Kim Min’s portrayal of Pasin, a Thailand-based mercenary and Ji An’s Muay Thai teacher, brought humor and a catchy catchphrase to the show, further showcasing his action-oriented acting background with roles in The Roundup: No Way Out and the Netflix series Black Knight, and anticipation for his upcoming film Tropical Night (literal title).

Lee Tae Young’s portrayal of the enigmatic Brother, a mysterious part-timer managing the secretive shopping mall MurderHelp, added a layer of mystery and tension with his nuanced performance, keeping the audience guessing his true allegiance. Primarily active on the theater stage, Tae Young has also appeared in dramas like Taxi Driver and My Dearest. In My Dearest, he appeared as a Joseon official who sold Gil Chae (Ahn Eun Jin) to Qing China.

The supporting cast, including Park Jung Woo as Honda, affectionately known as “Uncle Socks,” left a lasting impression despite limited screen time. His desperate action scenes to protect young Ji An and the sweet smile he puts on as he writes “socks” on his phone in response to the riddle she gave him have endeared him to fans, particularly with his portrayal of a character using sign language.

As A Shop for Killers concluded its eighth episode, leaving hints of what’s to come and sparking speculation about a second season, Walt Disney Korea has remained tight-lipped about official plans. However, given the positive response from both audiences and actors, the potential for a Season 2 seems promising, promising not only a return of this stellar cast but perhaps an introduction to new faces as well.
