In a recent live-streamed press conference for JTBC’s new weekend drama Doctor Slump, Park Shin Hye shared her feelings about returning to acting following her marriage and the birth of her child. The event, held on the 25th, featured director Oh Hyun Jong and actors Park Shin Hye, Park Hyung Sik, Yoon Park, and Kong Seong Ha.

During the event, Park Shin Hye addressed how marriage and motherhood have influenced her acting career. “To be honest, my approach to acting hasn’t really changed much because my attitude toward it has always been consistent,” she shared. She then added, “Shooting was quite enjoyable, especially since I’m quite close to Park Hyung Sik and received a lot of help from him. He’s such a witty actor, which made the whole shooting experience delightful and felt just like before.”

Reflecting on returning to a medical drama eight years after Doctors, Park explained, “While ‘Doctors’ was about a character who becomes a doctor to uncover a medical accident that killed her grandmother, this time it’s about a friend who, burdened by studies and family expectations, experiences burnout and hits rock bottom.” She further elaborated, “It’s a different kind of growth story. The character goes through a period of self-doubt, wondering, ‘What am I good at? What did I really want to do?’ She loses everything only to find herself again through her family, friends, and colleagues.”

Doctor Slump is an upcoming rom-com depicting the resuscitation of two doctors, Yeo Jeong Woo (Park Hyung Sik) and Nam Ha Neul (Park Shin Hye), who are experiencing the darkest period of their lives. The drama is set to premiere on the 27th at 10:30 PM KST.
