Netflix has released press stills for Season 1 of Gyeongseong Creature, sparking curiosity and anticipation.
Revealed on the 5th, these stills capture the romantic ambiance of Bonjeong Street, shadowy spaces harboring secrets, and the diverse characters living within this world, all of which fuel intrigue among viewers.
Running Geumokdang, the biggest pawnshop in Gyeongseong, Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon) holds all the information needed on Bonjeong Street. Tae Sang, a handsome man with an audacious personality, lives a life in the limelight. But then, he faces the risk of losing everything when Ishikawa, an officer of the Japanese Government-General, threatens him. In order to find Ishikawa’s missing mistress before the cherry blossoms fall, Tae Sang teams up with the professional tracker Yoon Chae Ok (Han So Hee) and her father Yoon Jung Won (Jo Han Chul).
Tae Sang, Chae Ok, and Jung Won infiltrate Ongseong Hospital, the suspected last whereabouts of the mistress, and confront the hidden secrets there. They find themselves in a desperate struggle for survival in a place stained with the greed of those more monstrous than the monsters.
Director Jung Dong Yoon focused on the duality of the characters and settings, saying, “The period of ‘Spring of 1945’ seemed to create questions about which direction each character should head towards.” Writer Kang Eun Kyung added, “Questions like ‘Is survival more important, or living humanely?’ ultimately depend on which side you stand on, altering the meaning of good and evil,” hinting at a colorful array of human characters living through a vibrant yet dark tumultuous era.
The actors praised the script as “a perfect script” (Park Seo Joon) and “a script that makes you curious about the beginning of the story” (Han So Hee), drawing attention from prospective viewers.
Meanwhile, Gyeongseong Creature Part 1 is set to be released on Netflix on the 22nd, with Part 2 following on January 5th, 2024.
