‘A Time Called You’ Director on Why He Chose to Cast Ahn Hyo Seop in the Series

Director Kim Jin Won explained why he selected Ahn Hyo Seop as a key member of the cast for A Time Called You during the production event.

A Time Called You revolves around Jun Hee (played by Jeon Yeo Been), who tragically loses her boyfriend in a sudden accident. The story brings us back to 1998, where she encounters Si Heon (Ahn Hyo Seop), a man who bears a striking resemblance to her late boyfriend, and his friend In Gyu (Kang Hoon).

Ahn Hyo Seop revealed why he joined the project at the event, stating, “I read the script without knowing it was a remake. While reading it, I instantly got goosebumps, and I couldn’t wait to meet the director after finish reading the script.” Jeon Yeo Bin added, “I really enjoyed watching the original work, so I was eager to take part in this drama adaptation. Fortunately, I was offered the role. I accepted without hesitation, feeling that I shouldn’t miss such a great opportunity.” Finally, Kang Hoon expressed, “I was captivated by the character while reading the script. When I met the director, I confidently showed him that I can pull this off.”

Director Kim described Ahn Hyo Seop as an “actor with a wide range of acting skills, who is capable of portraying both light-hearted and serious characters.” He elaborated, “He has successfully played various roles, from a doctor to a company CEO. When we first met, he came dressed very casually and displayed his playful side. He still exudes a boyish charm,” the director added. He then highly praised the actor, saying, “He can fully immerse himself in his character while grasping the entire context of the show.”

A Time Called You will premiere on Netflix on September 8th.
