Mixed reactions have emerged in Taiwan regarding Netflix’s A Time Called You, a remake of the hit Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day.
On the 11th, the teaser trailer for A Time Called You was released. The trailer followed notable scenes from Someday or One Day, such as listening to a cassette tape and riding a motorcycle in a school uniform.
However, the fans of the original show poured out disappointed reactions about the appearance of Ahn Hyo Seop, who plays the lead role of Nam Si Hyun. On the 14th, foreign media 8world reported that some fans commented, “The male lead looks chubbier.” The comment was in reference to a comparison between original actor Greg Hsu and Ahn Hyo Seop, as the latter appeared somewhat heavier, making him not look like a teenager.
Profile-wise, Greg Hsu stands at 178cm and weighs 69kg, while Ahn Hyo Seop is taller at 188cm and has a slim build. Ahn Hyo Seop’s close-up facial shots seem to have caused the misunderstanding.
In reality, the majority of people did not agree with the response. They left positive comments like, “Ahn Hyo Seop is taller, so he’d naturally weigh more” and “Both Ahn Hyo Seop’s and Greg Han’s smiles are beautiful. The casting of the male lead is a perfect fit.”
Meanwhile, all eyes are on whether the Netflix drama A Time Called You, starring Ahn Hyo Seop and Jeon Yeo Been, can surpass the original Someday or One Day. The show will be released on September 8th.
