According to Ryan Gosling, he must give BTS’ Jimin a “gift” as per the cardinal rule that Kens cannot break.

Ahead of the release of his film Barbie on the 19th, Gosling made a charming appeal to Jimin, admitting that he accidentally copied one of the K-pop sensation’s signature styles. As a token of reconciliation for the fashion blunder, he offered a unique gift.

“Hi Jimin, it’s Ryan Gosling here. I noticed that your ‘Permission to Dance’ outfit is the same as my Ken outfit in the upcoming movie Barbie. I have to give it to you — you wore it first,” he said in a video posted to Barbie’s official Twitter. You definitely wore it best and there’s an unspoken Ken code that if you bite another Ken’s style, you have to give them your most prized possession. I hope you’ll accept Ken’s guitar as my humble offering. Besides, Ken doesn’t really play anyway, so… it’ll be much better in your hands.”

Indeed, the outfits worn by the two are strikingly similar. In the “Permission to Dance” music video, Jimin dons a black Western-style shirt adorned with elaborate embroidery and white fringes, paired with black denim. Gosling, as Ken, added a pink scarf around his neck and a white cowboy hat to the ensemble reminiscent of Jimin’s.

While Gosling’s choice of flashy attire appears to be a deliberate attempt to portray his role as Ken, his jovial response to the inadvertent fashion replication seems to have been taken in good spirits.
