SM Entertainment is on the cusp of launching a brand-new boy group.
SM confirmed on the 12th to Starnews, “The debut of our new male group is imminent. We’re on our final preparations, including music video shoots.” According to insiders, SM will soon disclose the detailed debut schedule.
The imminent launch will mark SM’s first completely new boy group in nearly seven years. Though the company introduced sub-units NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV between 2016 and 2019, all of these groups operate under the NCT banner. Therefore, the expectations are mounting for this new ensemble.
Reportedly included in the lineup of the about-to-debut group are Sungchan and Shotaro, who were previously part of NCT, along with Seunghan and Eunsuk, who were introduced as SM Rookies.
SM introduced Seunghan and Eunsuk last year, saying, “Born in 2003, Seunghan boasts exceptional dance and vocal skills. Eunsuk, born in 2001, is a promising newcomer with impressive height and visual appeal.”
Sungchan and Shotaro joined NCT in 2020 but have since departed to make their re-debut in this new group.
