In an unexpected yet joyous announcement, Highlight’s Son Dong Woon announced his marriage, officially becoming the first member of the band to tie the knot.
In a handwritten letter he released on the 27th, Son Dong Woon expressed, “I’ve had the fortune to meet someone who understands and respects me deeply. And it’s become clear that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. We’ve decided to hold our wedding ceremony in September.”
Respecting the privacy of his non-celebrity soon-to-be wife, the ceremony will be held privately with only close family and friends in attendance.
In a heartfelt note to his fans, the actor said, “I met all of you when I was 19, always the youngest at home and in the group. And I am sincerely grateful for the unwavering support and love you’ve shown me. Your enormous love has allowed me to grow into who I am today. I am grateful to my teammates who have consistently supported and trusted me.” He added, “I won’t forget the gratitude I owe to everyone and will strive even harder. I promise to repay your love by doing my best in my place as a more mature Son Dong Woon.”
Around US Entertainment relayed, “Even after his marriage, Son Dong Woon will continue to actively work as a member of Highlight, a singer-songwriter, and an all-around entertainer. We kindly ask for your continued support and love for Son Dong Woon.”
Regarding speculations of premarital pregnancy, the agency firmly stated, “That’s not the case at all.”
Son Dong Woon debuted in 2009 as a member of BEAST. The group later left Cube Entertainment due to trademark issues, subsequently changing their name to Highlight and reforming as a quartet after Jang Hyun Seung and Yong Jun Hyung’s exit. Son Dong Woon, who has lived a scandal-free life throughout his over-decade-long career, has received nothing but congratulatory messages from fans following his marriage announcement.
