NewJeans’ Danielle has revealed her dubbing process for the film The Little Mermaid.

On the 30th, a video titled “DANIELLE <The Little Mermaid> Korean Dubbing Behind” was posted on NewJeans’ YouTube channel. This behind-the-scenes footage gives a glimpse into the day Danielle stepped into Ariel’s fin to dub the live-action of the classic movie The Little Mermaid.

Diligently rehearsing her lines, Danielle gave a big laugh when she had trouble performing the scene where Ariel gets mad at his father. Playfully she added, “I should’ve been mad at my dad to do this (scene).” After finishing her first dubbing session, excited Danielle shared her feelings, saying, “I’m nervous and thrilled. I’m trying to fully immerse myself in the role.”

After successfully completing the music video shoot she expressed her appreciation for the warm and friendly atmosphere the staff created for her. “I came here nervous, but all of the staff here have been so warm and kind, and the set had such a great atmosphere which helped me get into character. And I was able to play the role of Ariel well,” she conveyed with gratitude.

Meanwhile, Disney’s live-action musical The Little Mermaid, which hit the screen May 24th, continues to stir controversy over alleged racial discrimination.
