As the 51st Coming of Age Day is celebrated, attention is focusing on the stars born in 2004 who are stepping into adulthood this year. The Coming of Age Day annually celebrates individuals turning 19.
Firstly, IVE’s Jang Wonyoung and Liz have turned adults this day. Wonyoung and Liz, who debuted in December 2021, are currently working on their promotions for their first regular album I’ve IVE on April 10th.
Minji from NewJeans, who debuted in July last year, is also celebrating this year’s Coming of Age Day. She told News1, “Becoming an adult and experiencing my first Coming of Age Day feels truly special. The biggest change since becoming an adult seems to be the sense of responsibility. I’ll continue to think about responsibility and strive to show more diverse and new aspects.”
Also born in 2004 are woo!ah!’s Lucy and Minseo; STAYC’s Yoon and J; Kep1er’s Youngeun and Huening Bahiyyih; NMIXX’s Bae and Sullyoon; Weeekly’s Lee Jaehee and Jihan; and Fifty-Fifty’s Saena, Sio, and Aran.
Among the boy groups, Park Jeongwoo from TREASURE is celebrating Coming of Age Day. He commented, “As an adult, I feel a strong need to act more maturely. I will strive even harder to become a singer who can provide comfort and strength to all of you.”
ENHYPEN’s Jungwon told News1, “I felt like I had really become an adult when I was shooting the concept trailer for our new album Dark Blood and had a scene where I was driving. As an adult, I want to show a more responsible and cool side of myself.”
ATBO’s Jung Seunghwan, Kim Yeonkyu, and Won Bin; BAE173’s Doha, Bit, and Dohyon; DKB’s Harry June; MIRAE’s Jang Yu Bin; DKZ’s Giseok; GHOST9’s Lee Jin Woo; and YOUNITE’s Sion were also born in 2004 and became adults this day.
Foreign members born in 2004 are also celebrating the Coming of Age Day. They include IVE’s Rei, Kep1er’s Hikaru, and TREASURE’s Haruto of Japanese nationality and NewJeans’ Hani who holds dual citizenship of Australia and Vietnam.
Hani told News1, “In numbers, ’20 years old’ is a big and special step, and it seems to be the beginning of a new phase in life. I’m excited to start a new phase of my life as Newkins, and I look forward to the future even more.” Haruto also expressed his feelings, saying, “As an adult, I want to show a more mature image and become a cooler Haruto of TREASURE.”
