It’s been reported that Yoo Ah In tested positive for marijuana.
According to TV Chosun reported on the 11th, the actor pushed back his flight back home by two days. Initially, Yoo Ah In was supposed to arrive in Korea on the 3rd, but his flight suddenly got delayed two days. The police suspect that he postponed his return schedule to prevent drug substances from being detected in urine and body hair tests. Yoo Ah In hasn’t revealed the reason for the change in his flight.
Recently, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency was recently informed by the National Forensic Service that Yoo Ah In’s urine tested positive for weed. The result of his hair test hasn’t come out yet.
The actor is currently under investigation for violating the narcotic contract act. He is accused of regularly taking prescribed propofol while visiting multiple hospitals. On the 8th and 9th, the police seized and searched several hospitals and clinics, including plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam-gu and Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and secured Yoo Ah In’s medical records. Yoo Ah In’s agency United Artists Agency confirmed, “Recently, Yoo Ah in was investigated by the police regarding propofol usage. He’s actively cooperating with all the related inquiries, and we will try to clarify the issues brought up.”
Since the news made headlines, multiple companies are erasing the actor’s face from their commercials. Fashion brand platform MUSINSA, which famously used the actor in their campaigns, removed all of him from their advertisements. Moreover, outdoor company NEPA and pharmaceutical brand I’m Vita also pulled the actor from the images on their websites, YouTube channels, and other content.
Meanwhile, the police are currently conducting a digital forensic investigation into Yoo Ah In’s phone they confiscated.
