Just a month after Song Joong Ki’s dating news broke out, the actor announced his marriage himself through his fan cafe. It’s been reported that he wrote the announcement himself immediately after registering their marriage at the Jongno-gu Office and the British Embassy. He wrote in his letter – “She’s wise and amazing, so much so that I admire her” – and this matches what Song Joong Ki previously said in his interview after finishing Descendants of the Sun about his “dream girl.”
With this, the actor brushed aside all the speculations that arose since he admitted to being in a relationship. The name Song Joong Ki mentioned in his award acceptance speech, “Katy,” drew attention, and quickly the name Katy Louise Saunders surfaced.
Since then, interest in Saunders has only grown. She was born to a British father and a Colombian mother and is known to have spent her childhood going back and forth between England and Italy. Saunders is a talented woman who graduated from Bocconi University, Italy’s top university, and this particular school was mentioned in Song Joong Ki’s drama Vincenzo, drawing interest.
Having made her debut in 2022, Saunders appeared in various projects produced in Italy and Hollywood, and she once appeared in a coffee commercial with George Clooney. Currently, however, she has stopped acting, but with the recent news, her past performances are resurfacing.
Moreover, the news of her pregnancy received lots of congratulatory messages since Song Joong Ki previously mentioned that he wanted a family of his own. Related to the new recent announcement, High Zium Studio told OSEN, “What Song Joong Ki wrote is all correct. He will marry Katy Louise Saunders soon, and she is carrying a baby now.” And as for their wedding, they stated that the exact date hasn’t been confirmed yet. Though Song Joong Ki did mention that he’ll be welcoming his first child soon, he didn’t specify when the baby is expected, but there was a report about the due date being in August.
Above all, attention focused on the newlyweds’ house as Song Joong Ki is known to have a fortune of 50 billion won (about $41 million), and according to many reports, the two will be starting their marriage in a villa in Itaewon-dong with a size of 6405 square feet. The actor bought an old house for 10 billion won (about $8.1 million) in 2016 and finished reconstructing it in February last year. This house is now estimated to be priced at 20 billion won (about $16 million). He also bought a high-end villa in Cheongdam-dong, which is due to be completed this year. IU also bought a room in this villa, and the market price of this place is known to be around 15 billion won (about $12.2 million).
One entertainment journalist said, “(Song Joong Ki) used to live in Hannam-dong, and he openly enjoyed his dates with her. That was a hint that he was taking this relationship seriously from the beginning.”
