iKON is leaving YG Entertainment for good.
On the 30th, YG Entertainment released an official statement. “After a long discussion with iKON members, we decided to respect each other’s opinions and agreed to end our exclusive contracts,” they wrote. “We sincerely thank iKON for being our artist all this time. We’ll continue to support their activities in various fields.”
iKON gained popularity as the B Team of Mnet’s 2013 show WIN: Who is Next? and made their official debut in 2015 with “MY TYPE.” Since then, the act has released multiple hit songs such as “LOVE SCENARIO” and “RHYTHM TA.” However, iKON was reorganized into a 6-member group when leader B.I exited the team after being charged with drug usage.
YG and iKON have been together for 7 years since September 2015. Currently, the members are looking for a new management agency, at the same time, considering establishing a label to continue on as iKON.
