(G)I-DLE revealed how Marilyn Monroe became their main inspiration for their “Nxde” MV.
Son Seung Hee, the producer of music video “Nxde,” shared a short clip of (G)I-DLE members dressed as Marilyn Monroe on her Instagram and wrote: “I enjoyed re-creating Marilyn Monroe’s iconic looks in this music video. Before shooting, I had many discussions with Jeon So Yeon on how we should visualize their message in this music video. I put a lot of attention into the detail.”
During the recent showcase for their comeback, Jeon So Yeon shared, “Marilyn Monroe was labeled as a blonde sex symbol in the past, but I came to think that the real her would have been different from what the public thought of her.”
The singer added, “I heard that she was actually highly intellectual and liked to read philosophical books. In a similar vein, people have a particular image of us as we are publicly known celebrities. We wanted to break that stereotype and show our true selves by paying homage to Marilyn Monroe.”
The group’s member Miyeon also commented, “The new album is all about love that connects with our dreams, friends, and families. What word goes after ‘I love’ is up for you to decide after listening to the track.” The members also stated, “Although the word ‘Nxde’ might sound a little provocative, we used it to portray the real ourselves, not the literal nudity.”
