BLACKPINK became the first-ever double million sellers in K-pop girl group history.
The sources said, citing data from local albums sales tracker Circle chart (aka Gaon chart), BLACKPINK’s second full-length album BORN PINK sold 2,141,281 copies.
As the data only reflects the sales made on the first day of release in North America, Europe and South Korea, the numbers for total album sales may vary and become higher.
The female act sold 2 million copies in pre-orders and reached about 1,110,000 album sales on the day of their new album release. They became the first K-pop girl group to achieve such a feat and are expected to set a new record with cumulative sales of 2 million reached so far.
The group topped the iTunes Album chart in 60 countries, including the U.S and U.K, and the Apple Music Album chart in 64 countries. The title song “Shut Down” has stayed atop a Spotify chart for five consecutive days.
BLACKPINK will kick off their world tour with the two-day Seoul concert titled BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR-BORN PINK at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium on October 15th and 16th. They will mesmerize 1.5 million fans in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania regions.
