The new Disney original show The Zone: Survival Mission, slated for release on the 8th, held its press conference on Tuesday. The show comes from the hitmakers of X-Man, Running Man, and Busted! This new special adventure follows the cast members as they survive in the virtual space that changes every episode.
Yoo Jae Suk shared, “Literally, we have to survive in a situation that the production team has prepared for us for four hours. And of course, they don’t just let us sit still for those hours.” Producer Cho Hyo Jin explained that he came up with the idea for the show after witnessing the recent pandemic that has swept the globe.
Lee Kwang Soo chimed in, “I” ve seen a show where the cast has to escape from a certain situation, but I was intrigued by the fact that we had to survive.” He then went on to say, “Producer Cho said that we’ll finish the shooting in just four hours no matter what. I found that very interesting. Though those 4 hours were different from what I’d imagined, in the end, it was quite fun.”
Above all else, The Zone raises expectations for the reunion of Running Man‘s “Kwang-Jae duo” Yoo Jae Suk and Lee Kwang Soo. Kwon Yuri said, “It even felt like Yoo Jae Suk joined the show just to tease Lee Kwang Soo. The two showed that tight bond throughout the shooting. Watching them was heartwarming, and I had so much fun as well.”
Yoo Jae Suk didn’t forget to praise Kwon Yuri’s performance. “Since about 10 years ago, I’ve been telling Yuri to do variety shows,” he commented. “We can give up the mission if we just simply press the button on our watch. All three of us had to press together. Kwang Soo and I pressed it so many times, but Yuri wouldn’t, so we couldn’t escape.”
