Extraordinary Attorney Woo star Joo Jong Hyuk teamed up with Harper’s Bazaar Korea Magazine.
Although he gained fame by playing the evil taciturn character Kwon Min Woo in the series, the actor is well-known for his integrity, being a Taekwondo lover and a former professional bartender. During the photoshoot, he proved to be a versatile actor by showing off the bright, cheery energy he never showed in the series.
In an interview after the photo shoot, he shared his thoughts on what it’s like to be the only villain in the series. He said, “Even my family doesn’t like him in the series. My dad checks my Instagram every now and then and gives me a heads up whenever I lose a chunk of followers. He would tell me, ‘A thousand people unfollowed you today. Stop being so mean.’ A few days ago, I hit 200,000 followers on Instagram, and my dad messaged me, ‘Congratulations! You now have 200,000 followers!’, along with a screenshot that shows the number of people following my account. So I guess there are some upsides to being hated by everyone.” He continued, “At first, I was a bit confused. I was like, do people hate me or the character? But now I just take it as a compliment on my acting,” expressing his gratitude for all the love and support he’s been receiving.
Of all the hideous nicknames the series and its fans gave him, he picked one of his favorite. He revealed, “I personally like the ‘country puppy dog Jong Hyuk’ the most. I played many country boy roles in my previous projects, so I think the name goes well with my overall image.”
Extraordinary Attorney Woo will air its final episode today. Joo Jong Hyuk’s new pictorials and interview will be featured in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar Korea Magazine.
