Single’s Inferno star FreeZia (Song Zia) is embroiled in another controversy over addressing kimchi as Chinese food ‘pao cai’ in the subtitles for her re-uploaded Youtube video on a Chinese video-sharing website.
It has been revealed that FreeZia has been re-uploading her YouTube videos on the Chinese video platform called BiliBili.
The controversial naming of the food appeared in the video that the Single’s Inferno star uploaded in August 2020, where she took a Chinese language class and ate dinner. In the video, she said, “I came home and ate kimchi stew” in Korean. However, the subtitle read kimchi as ‘pao cai.’
Pao cai is a traditional Chinese dish of fermented vegetables. China has been arguing that kimchi originated from pao cai, and the Chinese government has previously ordered to translate kimchi-related products to pao cai, notwithstanding that the two are not reasonably interchangeable.
Meanwhile, Kang Ye Won, the co-founder of FreeZia’s agency who appeared on JTBC’s Knowing Bros with her, deleted all the photos and videos she took with FreeZia on her social media account. Regarding this, an online user commented, “She’s looking out for herself,” whiles others have asked, “Is she cutting FreeZia off?”
