BTS did it again!
The record-breaking boy group became the artist(s) of the year. The boys of BTS became the biggest winners of the night, taking home not one but three AMA Awards. In particular, the act picked up the trophy for artist of the year, beating out other prominent pop stars like Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.
“Four years ago, we had given this first-time-ever TV live performance at this stage AMAs for ‘DNA.’ We were so excited and nervous at the time, RM said. “And it’s been a long and amazing ride since then, but nobody could have ever bet on the odds of us standing here receiving this award. Except for the ARMY. Seven boys from Korea, united by a love for music, met the love and support from all the ARMY all over the world.”

The leader then stressed that the group will never take the love they receive for granted. Suga also took the mic to express his joy in Korean. “We made our debut in the States four years ago at AMA. And I never expected to win this award.”
“We just want to make people happy with our music. We believe that there’s a world to open in the beginning of our new chapter,” said Jungkook. “We learned in the past two years that each and every moment is precious.”
Besides Artist of the Year, BTS took home Favorite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song (“Butter”).
Afterwards, the act got on the stage with Coldplay to perform their collaboration song “My Universe.” BTS then capped off the 2021 AMAs with a fantastic performance of their hit song “Butter.”
