For actors, variety shows could be a double-edged sword. Variety shows help them raise their profile, but it means that it hinders the viewers from getting immersed in their roles. But among all the actors, Lee Sang Yeob, Kim Seon Ho, and Cha Tae Hyun, who heat up the small screen with their variety shows and dramas, stand out.

Lee Sang Yeob is currently showing impressive performance in MBC’s On the Verge of Insanity as Han Se Kwon, a geeky and cowardly man you just cannot hate. At the same, he joined tvN’s Sixth Sense 2 as a regular member. While being teased by other female cast members, he continues to be a friendly character with good manners.

Kim Seon Ho, who is receiving a lot of love for his handsome looks and unexpected charm in KBS’s 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4, can’t be left out. He starred in tvN’s Start-Up, which ended in success last December, and will make his comeback with tvN’s Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, set to premiere on August 28th. The healing romance that Kim Seon Ho will show in the seaside village is raising expectations.

Cha Tae Hyun‘s performances in variety shows stand out the most. Not only did he star in various variety shows like tvN’s Hometown Flex and Unexpected Business, but he also recently returned as an actor with KBS’s Police University. The drama started off solid with 5.2% ratings and recorded 8.5% ratings by the 4th episode.

Lee Sang Yeob, Kim Seon Ho, and Cha Tae Hyun continue to be on a roll, breaking the stereotype of “variety shows = double-edged sword.” With their solid acting skills and friendly charms fully supporting them, saying that their variety show appearances hinder their acting is nonsense. Nowadays, actors no longer stick to “staying mysterious.” The variety show outings of actors who were rarely seen on variety shows became more frequent. We expect more and more actors to show up on variety shows in the future.

Jeon So Min, who we mostly know as Running Man‘s Jeon So Min, is set to star in one-act play Hee Soo and Show Window this fall. Also, she was offered to take the lead in the Korean remake of the British TV series Cleaning Up. Also, Oh Na Ra, who mainly played glamorous and strong characters, is now showing off her friendly charm through Sixth Sense 2. In recently ended SBS’s Racket Boys, she turned into a warm badminton coach. Kim Ji Seok, who recently showed off his charms in JTBC’s Monthly Magazine Home, was tabbed as the host of MBC’s Where Is My Lodging. Plus, the 9 actors of the movie The Pirates: Goblin Flag, including Kang Ha Neul, Lee Kwang Soo, Han Hyo Joo, Kwon Sang Woo, and more, will greet viewers with Lending You My House on Wheels, the spin-off of House on Wheels.
