In the 4th episode of The Penthouse 3: War in Life, Joo Seok Kyung turned out to be Shim Su Ryun’s biological daughter.

Shim Su Ryun’s daughter Min Seol Ah had a twin sister, and she was revealed to be Joo Seok Kyung. What had happened was that Joo Dan Tae had abducted Joo Seok Kyung in the past and brought her up as a twin sister of Joo Seok Hoon, Na Ae Gyo’s birth child.

Joo Seok Kyung’s true identity gave a surprise because she has done evil things due to a lack of affection ironically because she was not Shim Su Ryun’s biological daughter.

The problem is that the series is overusing this extreme type of cliché within the story. In season 2, The Penthouse already used “the dark, deep family secret’ on Oh Yoon Hee’s daughter Bae Ro Na. In the season, she turned out to be Ha Yoon Cheol’s biological daughter.

This time, it was revealed that Shim Su Ryun and Joo Seok Kyung share a biological mother and daughter relationship. Indeed, it is a plot twist, but it does not delight the viewers or give a big shock to the audience. Just like the secret behind Bae Ro Na, it was just another, yet redundant plot twist.

The Penthouse is being criticized for its stale, repetitive plot as it relentlessly brings back who we believed to be dead.

Their viewership rate is still relatively high, but unlike the previous season, it is not seeing an uptrend.
