On tvN’s My Roommate Is A Gumiho, Shin Woo Yeo (Jang Ki Yong) pushed Lee Dam (Lee Hyeri) away. It was because he had painfully lost his first love(Jung So Min) a long time ago.

In the sixth episode, Shin Woo Yeo made Lee Dam’s heart flutter by saying, “You are special to me, too.” But the moment didn’t last long. Soon, she learned the meaning of being’ special’ and lost her words. According to Shin Woo Yeo, it meant “like a family or a niece.”

Shin Woo Yeo, who has no idea of human’s complicated emotions and thoughts, was troubled to figure out why Lee Dam was upset. He kept trying to write a text message to Lee Dam. Finally, he explained, “I needed the courage to say, so please bear with me.” Later, Shin Woo Yeo took the history nerd Lee Dam out for a date in a museum, making her excited.

Meanwhile, Shin Woo Yeo’s sad past has been revealed. Gumiho can become a human by getting energy from people. But if he doesn’t give them the power back on time, humans who lent his or her energy may die. In the past, Shin Woo Yeo had failed to erase a woman’s memory, whom he felt deeply attached to for the first time. And unfortunately, he missed the right time to get the marbles back, leading to her death.

Since then, Shin Woo Yeo has not been able to open his heart to humans. He tried to ignore and suppress his heart toward Lee Dam. At the end of the episode, Shin Woo Yeo decided to part ways with Lee Dam, making the viewers feel his pain.
