MAMAMOO’s Wheein is in final discussion with her agency RBW about renewing her contract.
On June 9th, Sports Kyunghyang reported that Wheein recently decided not to renew her contract with RBW. They added, “Nevertheless, she will be continuing MAMAMOO’s activities.” Since the news hit the wire, K-pop fans expressed excitement and regrets over Wheein’s new beginning.
However, RBW soon issued their official position. “No decision has been made regarding Wheein’s renewal, and we are in the process of making a final decision,” they wrote. “We will officially announce the result as soon as it’s confirmed.”
Wheein debuted in 2014 as a member of MAMAMOO. From the beginning of this year, MAMAMOO members discussed their renewal with RBW as their 7-year contract neared its end. Solar and Moonbyul already renewed their contracts in January, and Hwasa did so too in March.
Meanwhile, MAMAMOO released their new mini-album WAW on June 2nd. They are now promoting the title track “Where Are We Now.”
