Singer Yoo Eun Sung has caused controversy over remarks he made about the TV show Mine that his wife, Kim Jung Hwa, is currently starring in. Yoo described the relationship between his wife’s character, Choi Soo Ji, and her ex-girlfriend Seo Hyun, played by Kim Seo Hyung, as abnormal.
Known as a devoted Christian, Yoo posted his perspective of his wife’s character on Instagram. In response to a comment which said, “Your wife took the role. Did she decide to take the role in the series to better understand homosexuality?” He answered, “The series is not about homosexuality. It’s a story about becoming ‘normal’ again after all.”
In addition, he claimed the production team was using the subject of homosexuality for marketing purposes. Then, he added that their couple is against homosexuality. The post brought a lot of criticism. As controversy arose over his remarks he since has deleted the post. However, his discriminatory remarks and potential spoilers about Mine already have gone viral. Regarding the matter, Kim Jung Hwa apologized, stating that “We are sorry for any inconvenience.”
