As a Sci-Fi thriller based on a popular webtoon, Dr. BRAIN will be the first Korean work by Apple Original. It is the first drama directed by Kim Ji Woon after he worked on A Tale of Two Sisters, A Bittersweet Life, The Good, the Bad, the Weird, I Saw the Devil, and The Age of Shadows. It will also be joined by Lee Sun Kyun, the first Korean actor to be awarded the SAG Award through his work in Parasite.

The series is currently being filmed in Korea and is scheduled to be released worldwide on Apple TV+ within the year. Dr. BRAIN is a Sci-Fi thriller mainly dealing with the emotional journey of a brain scientist who is committed to the new technology to access brain consciousness and memory. As his family gets caught up in a mysterious incident, the main character starts to access the brains of those involved in the incident, including his wife, to solve the mystery and find out what happened to them.

In the series, director Kim Ji Woon said, “The story of connecting to the brain and being able to read the memories was interesting. Events can be reconstructed once whatever the individual has seen, heard, and experienced could be reassembled. I also liked how the main character can be made aware of his flaws and hypocrisy within himself by looking into how he was remembered by others, growing as he recovers broken relationships.” The director also added that he looks forward to collaborating with Apple.
