Kim So Hyun will be showing whole new images as a mother and a warrior in the upcoming drama River Where The Moon Rises.

KBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama River Where The Moon Rises is a fusion historical romance that tells the famous love story of Princess Pyeonggang (Kim So Hyun) and Ondal (Ji Soo). It has been receiving keen attention as the project to revive the spirit of Goguryeo in the small screen in 2021.

And today, this highly-anticipated drama offered a sneak-peek into Kim So Hyun’s double role: Princess Pyeonggang and her mother Queen Yeon. For her roles, not only will Kim turn into a tough warrior and an assassin as Princess Pyeonggang but also become a wise queen and mother as Queen Yeon.

Queen Yeon ascended to the throne at a young age, but she was a person who has always pondered and tried to fulfill what would be done for the people as the queen of Goguryeo. She might be young in age, but she is strong-willed and steadfast in her beliefs. But at the same time, she was a mother who raised Pyeonggang and royal prince Won with love and a benevolent heart.

On Friday, River Where The Moon Rises released still photos of Kim So Hyun as Queen Yeon. One photo shows her warmly gazing into her son’s eyes while the rest of the photos capture her charisma and worries for her kingdom.

The production crew shared, “Kim So Hyun shows a dramatic change in acting by playing two roles, Queen Yeon and Pyeonggang. She, who challenged her first-ever mother role, overwhelmed the scene with performance she has never shown before.”

“Queen Yeon plays a key role in the development of the story at the beginning of the drama. She also had the greatest influence on Pyeonggang’s tendencies and characteristics. It will be fun to compare Queen Yeon’s performance in the beginning with Pyeonggang’s performance afterward,” they added.

Meanwhile, River Where The Moon Rises will premiere on February 15 at 9:30 pm KST.
