The new tvN drama Mount Jiri (literal title) has begun its climb in earnest.
tvN’s new drama Mount Jiri, set to premiere in 2021, is a mystery drama that will tell the story of people who climb through the mysterious and unexplored regions of Korea’s Mount Jiri.
Alongside with Kingdom writer Kim Eun Hee and Goblin and Mr. Sunshine director Lee Eung Bok, the drama drew keen attention from the pre-production stage for its jaw-dropping cast lineup including Jun Ji Hyun, Ju Ji Hoon, Sung Dong Il and Oh Jung Se.
Ahead of the first outdoor filming on October 29, staff and actors got together to hold gosa rites (rituals held to pray for peace and well-being). Director Lee Eung Bok remarked, “I’m truly grateful to be working with such a great cast and crew. I will do my best to figure out ways to make filming safe and more fun for everyone.”
Jun Ji Hyun, who plays the best ranger Seo Yi Kang, Ju Ji Hoon, who will become her rookie partner Kang Hyun Jo, and Oh Jung Se, who takes on the role of an extreme realist Jung Goo Young, also wished to finish filming safely and make a good work.
Then on October 30, the production team dropped two photos of Jun Ji Hyun and Ju Ji Hoon, raising the expectations to the peak.
Meanwhile, the drama, which will showcase a new mystery that has never been seen before against the backdrop of the vast mountain, will air on tvN in 2021 and will be released globally via OTT platform IQIYI.
