BLACKPINK became the first K-pop girl group to become a “million seller” group!
YG Entertainment recently shared that BLACKPINK’s first full-length album ‘The Album’ surpassed a whopping 1.2 million sales! Based on album sales and vinyl sales, ‘The Album’ sold a total of 1,209,543 copies. BLACKPINK’s album sold 871,355 copies in Korea and 319,300 copies in overseas countries like the US and Europe. As reported earlier, 18,888 copies of ‘The Album’ vinyl sold out within minutes of its release.
No K-pop girl group has ever reached 1 million pre-orders for an album before, and no K-pop girl group has ever surpassed 1 million sold copies of an album before. BLACKPINK easily shattered these two momentous achievements with ‘The Album.’ The best selling girl group album before BLACKPINK’s only sold around 760,000 copies.
