Master in the House has been sued by local residents in California.

On August 17, KBS reported that the cast and the staff of SBS’s entertainment show Master in the House has been sued. According to the reports, the people who have put in a claim for damages are the local residents living in Irvine, California.

The residents are claiming that Master in the House caused the damages by fraud, trespassing, property damages, violation of the traffic laws, and traffic obstruction.

There will be a damage suit worth about 1.6 billion KRW (about 1,349,140 USD) in the US as well as in Korea. The amount of compensation is expected to rise significantly as more and more residents are expressing their intention to participate in the lawsuit.

The particular episode was aired in September 2018, when Master in the House team visited Shin Ae Ra. At the time, most of the filming was done in Tustin and Irvine.

Residents are raising the issue of the production team’s unauthorized filming. In particular, they are taking issue with the fact that the Master in the House entered the swimming pool where only residents can enter without permission, and that the filming was conducted without permission.

It also included allegations that the residents’ faces were publicly exposed and that some residents’ vehicles were damaged.

SBS, on the other hand, said they received permission to shoot in advance through a local agency. They refuted the claim by saying that they followed the relevant procedures, including paying all the related expenses. Then they also suggested legal action, saying that the plaintiffs have been demanding about 6 billion KRW (about 5,059,623 USD) in damages for nearly two years.

The conflict between the two sides is expected to lead to a legal battle.
