In the second half of the year, series of youth melodramas starring actors in their 20s will be released.
First of all, two dramas that center around music will premiere in August: SBS’s Do You Like Brahms?, starring Park Eun Bin and Kim Min Jae, and KBS’s Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, starring Go Ah Ra and Lee Jae Wook.
Set to first air on August 31, Do You Like Brahms? is about the dreams and love of classical music students. Park Eun Bin will turn into a late-blooming music student Chae Song Ah, and Kim Min Jae will play Park Joon Young, a pianist.
Do Do Sol Sol La La So, which is set to premiere on August 26, tells the story of those who gathered La La Land, a piano academy in a small village. Go Ah Ra will play lovely and positive-minded pianist Goo Ra Ra, while Lee Jae Wook will play Seon Woo Joon, an experienced part-time worker. Writer Oh Ji Young, who was recognized for her skills through Terius Behind Me (2018) and Shopping King Louie (2016), wrote the drama.
In JTBC’s Number of Times, which will premiere in September, Ong Seong Wu and Shin Ye Eun, who have become leading actors, will star. It is a romance drama that depicts a woman who hid her true feelings after a long crush and a man who now realizes his true feelings and tries to confess his love.
Also set to air in September, tvN’s Record of Youth is already making headlines with the meeting of Park So Dam and Park Bo Gum. The drama will present a story about youth and their challenges as they face their dreams in the modeling world. It is drawing attention as Park Bo Gum’s last drama before his military enlistment.
Starring Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk, tvN’s Start-Up tells the story of young people who have entered the startup business dreaming of success in Korean Silicon Valley.
JTBC’s Run On, scheduled to air this winter, is a drama about a former sprinter for the national team becoming a sports agent. Shin Se Kyung, Im Shi Wan, and Choi Soo Young will star in the drama. Producer Lee Jae Hoon, who directed Chief Kim (2017) and The Ghost Detective (2018), will join hands with rookie writer Park Shi Hyun.
