MAMAMOO‘s Solar recently shared a video of her cover version for the classic song “Over The Rainbow”, sung by the legendary actor and singer Judy Garland, on her personal YouTube channel. It’s a part of the promotion for the latest Oscar-winning film Judy, which is the biopic of Garland and released on March 12 in Korea.
“Over The Rainbow”, written for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, is one of the most famous and beloved original soundtracks (OST) for movies. Garland sang this song for The Wizard of Oz when playing Dorothy Gale, the movie’s lead role, in her teens. Through the video, Solar revealed that she wanted to pay respect to Garland’s musical life as a cinephile and then started to sing the song unaccompanied. After finishing her cover, Solar recommended her fans to listen to the original song. What a beautiful and dedicated tribute, Solar!
