The movie Sinkhole, starring Cha Seung Won, Kim Sung Kyun, and Lee Kwang Soo, has postponed its release to this winter.
According to a media outlet, SHOWBOX has tentatively decided to postpone the release of Sinkhole, which was scheduled to be released in September (Chuseok season) to this winter.
As the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases has skyrocketed and social distancing policy has been upgraded to level 2, more and more movies are either canceling or postponing their release.
Since Sinkhole has been considered one of the most anticipated films distributed by SHOWBOX this year and was initially scheduled to be released during the summer season, it is analyzed that the movie has chosen a winter season that normally attracts a large number of moviegoers rather than the Chuseok season that has many elements of anxiety due to current COVID-19 situation.
An official from SHOWBOX said, “It is true that the release of Sinkhole has been temporarily postponed to this winter. But because we have no idea how the COVID-19 situation will proceed, we can’t be certain of winter release either. We will wait and see various variables in the future.”
Meanwhile, Sinkhole is a real-life disaster comedy movie about newly built villa falls into a sinkhole with its residents trapped inside.
