Korean Blockbuster ‘Peninsula’ Earns 48 Million Dollars in a Month

Peninsula has earned more than $48 million at the box office in just under a month.

In Taiwan, released on August 15, it surpassed $11 million (USD) and became Taiwan’s top box office hit this year. In Vietnam, the movie surpassed $3.5 million in accumulated sales, beating Parasite to set a new record for the highest box office success of Korean films ever released in Vietnam. Also, in Singapore, where only 50 seats are available in each theater, it earned $1.9 million, becoming Singapore’s top box office hit this year.

Peninsula also became the box office hit in Mongolia, and earned $120,000 at the Canadian box office on the first weekend of its release. With such rave reactions, the movie will be released in the US on August 21.

It will soon be released in Britain, France, Germany, and Spain following five Nordic countries and three Baltic countries, continuing its unrivaled move. As of August 14, Peninsula has been released in 21 countries, including South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Mongolia, Laos, Cambodia, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

Set 4 years after Train to Busan, Peninsula depicts the final struggle of those who are left on the ruined land.
