TVING’s upcoming original series Shark: The Storm is coming in hot, expanding its universe and turning up the intensity with the return of its gritty, action-packed world.
A re-adaptation of Shark: The Beginning—TVING’s original movie released in 2021 and based on a popular webtoon—the new six-episode series drops May 15th. This time, it follows Cha Woo Sol (Kim Min Seok), now training to become a professional MMA fighter after his release from prison, as he faces off against the ruthless villain Hyun Woo Yong (Lee Hyun Wook) in a stormy showdown of survival.
TVING unveiled its launch posters, capturing the high-stakes clash between the two leads. The tension crackles between Woo Sol’s scarred yet resolute expression and the ominous presence of Woo Yong. Woo Sol’s poster’s tagline—”I’ll fight like a shark that doesn’t know how to stop”—sets the tone for the violent confrontation ahead, while Woo Yong’s chilling gaze and taunting line, “Cha Woo Sol, this must be destiny,” hint at the whirlwind to come.
Kim Min Seok’s Cha Woo Sol is a young man chasing a new dream as an MMA fighter. Having survived a hellish past and pushed beyond his limits, he now lives each day with quiet determination despite the stigma of being an ex-convict—until Hyun Woo Yong walks into his life, bringing a brewing storm with him. After shaping Woo Sol’s character so convincingly in Shark: The Beginning, Kim is now poised to deliver even sharper action and deeper emotional resonance.
On the other side stands Hyun Woo Yong, aka the ultimate villain. Having previously made a brief appearance in The Beginning, Woo Yong returns as the head of an underground fight league and the brutal boss of a crime syndicate. Played by Lee Hyun Wook, the character runs violent and illegal matches purely for pleasure—and in The Storm, that dark thrill is taken to new extremes.
Shark: The Storm premieres May 15th on TVING, with all episodes released simultaneously.
