A third installment of Along with the Gods has been confirmed for production.
Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, the Along with the Gods series explores the realms of the afterlife and the living world, delving into themes of life, death and the power of human connection. The first two films were massive box office successes in South Korea, becoming the first series in the country’s history to have consecutive films each sell over 10 million tickets.
Director Kim Yong Hwa, who helmed the first two films, confirmed that he is developing the film’s third and fourth installment. “I am preparing Along with the Gods Parts 3 and 4,” he stated in a recent interview, confirming that early script work on Part 3 has already begun.
The first two films covered the main arcs of the original webtoon, so Part 3 is expected to break new ground with an entirely original story. This has sparked excitement about what new afterlife worlds and characters, not seen in the source material, will be brought to the screen.
Much of the franchise’s appeal came from the powerful performances of its all-star cast, which included renowned actors like Ha Jung Woo, Cha Tae Hyun, Ju Ji Hoon and Kim Hyang Gi. It’s widely anticipated that the new sequel will feature a similarly impressive lineup.
