Paramount and HYBE America’s upcoming K-pop film has officially locked its stars and a release date.

Yoo Ji Young (KPop Demon Hunters) and Eric Nam (The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender) will lead the Benson Lee–directed feature, with the latest draft of the script written by Eileen Shim.

“This film is my love letter to K-pop — its energy, passion, magic, and the incredible community behind it,” said Lee in a statement. “I’m deeply grateful to Paramount Pictures for championing the project, to our producers for their unwavering dedication, to our talented and dynamic cast, and to the legends of the genre helping us bring this story to life.”

The untitled film will hit North American theaters on February 12th, 2027, kicking off the lucrative Presidents Day/Valentine’s Day weekend, opposite TriStar’s The Nightingale starring Elle and Dakota Fanning.

Set in the high-stakes world of K-pop survival shows, the film follows a Korean American girl who defies her family to compete in a televised audition for the next breakout girl group. It is expected to be the first major American studio film shot entirely in South Korea.

Yoo Ji Young recently voiced Zoey in Netflix’s animated hit KPop Demon Hunters, which saw its soundtrack break into the Billboard Hot 100 and dominate Spotify charts. Eric Nam has built a prolific career in Korean entertainment, from talk shows to touring globally. He’ll also appear in Season 4 of Peacock’s Emmy-winning The Traitors.

The film is produced by James Shin of HYBE America, Arthur Spector and Joshua Davis of Epic Magazine, and Scooter Braun. Executive producers include Joshuah Bearman, John Zaozirny, and Scott Manson.

“This film captures the incredible dedication and artistry that defines K-pop and its insatiable popularity, while showcasing the universal themes of chasing your dreams against all odds,” said Shin.
