Kim Geon Woo, a contestant on CJ ENM’s Mnet survival show Boys II Planet, has issued a public apology after being accused of bullying fellow trainees during his pre-debut days and misrepresenting himself as an unaffiliated participant when he was in fact tied to a major agency.

On July 21st, Kim took to social media to give a sincere apology, writing, “At the time, I was going through a tough period as the team leader. With the pressure and sense of responsibility to do well, I tried to lead my fellow trainees, but my inexperience and lack of maturity ended up hurting a lot of people. I’m sincerely reflecting on my actions.”

While Kim claimed there were “significant inaccuracies” in the accusations, he stated, “Rather than focusing on correcting what’s untrue, I believe it’s more important to reflect and sincerely apologize for what I did wrong.” He concluded the statement by expressing remorse to fans and vowing to grow into a more mature person.

On the 17th, a post surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) accusing Kim Geon Woo of mistreating fellow trainees during his time at an entertainment agency. The poster claimed Kim routinely lashed out at others, allegedly emboldened by the backing of high-ranking company staff.

Fueling the backlash, it was also revealed yesterday that both Kim Geon Woo and fellow contestant Kang Woo Jin—previously introduced on Boys II Planet as “independent” trainees—were in fact signed to WAKEONE, a CJ ENM subsidiary.

WAKEONE responded, stating that Kim had already passed initial casting rounds before officially signing his trainee contract, and that both he and Kang Woo Jin had independently prepared to join the program. The company added that they have now terminated both training contracts.

Still, many viewers online are calling for the two to withdraw from the show, citing concerns over possible manipulation and fairness in rankings.
